Description

A very fine set of antique German brass lever action postage scales, the disk to the top marked with German postal rates for letters up to 50 grams in weight, dating to the early 20th Century, circa 1920.

The scales stand on a black and copper painted cast iron base. I have not been able to spot any makers marks, other than the word ‘DEPOSE’ (a French patent mark) to the side, but have found many examples similar to this which are attributed to the German maker Phillip Jakob Maul.

Condition

In good working condition, showing minor general wear and good original lacquered finish to the brass. The wording on the upper panel remains clear. Please see the images provided which complement this description.
